Knowing God

Titus 3:4-7 says, “But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” It is solely on the basis of God’s mercy that we are delivered from the penalty of our sin and the Spirit makes a person new by regeneration, the new birth. Through the Holy Spirit, a Christian grows and matures in character and good works.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him (Thomas), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Through His death and resurrection, Jesus is the only way to and revelation of the Father. Jesus goes on to say, in vs.7, “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” For you to know the Father you must know His Son, Jesus Christ.
Mark 8:34-35 says, “…He said to them, ‘Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.’ ” Even though Jesus offers salvation as a free gift to all, He also warned that following Him would entail suffering and hardship.
The love of God the Father for God the Son is the measure of the love of the Son for believers! Christ loves believers unconditionally and as believers obey Christ’s Word and abide in His love, they come to experience and understand His love for them more and more. John 15:5-17 clearly explains Love and Joy perfected: “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.”
The gift of salvation is revealed and given to you through Jesus Christ! Because ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!’ (John 3:16) As Jesus offers you the wonderful gift of His salvation and eternal life, believe. Believe His Words, live on His words, and commit your whole life for God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Dear one,
